Concession in Global Commerce Policy

Some commentators have suggested that this term should be replaced by commitment to remove the false impression that countries make a sacrifice by lowering tariff rates, and that trade liberalization is a cost on the economy. The GATS already refers to commitments. See also requests and offers, schedules of commitments on services and schedules of concessions.[1]
