Meaning of Duplicity
The technical fault of combining two or more offenses in the same count of an indictment. The rule is that each count in an indictment should refer to a single transaction and where the count refers to more than one transaction, it is bad for duplicity. See U.S. v Gerhart, (D.C.W.Va.) 275 F. Supp. 443.
Duplicity Alternative Definition
(Lat. duplex, twofold; double). The union of more than one cause of action in one court in a writ, or more than one defense in one place, or more than a single breach in a replication. 1 Woodb. & M. (U. S.) 381.
