Meaning of Immovable
A thing which can be touched but which cannot be moved, such as lands, and includes buildings and improvements. The term includes (1) land, (2) that which is affixed to land, (3) that which is incidental or appurtenant to land, and (4) that which is immovable by law. Mt. Carmel Fruit Co. v Webster, 73 P. 826, 140 Cal. 183. In some jurisdictions, a movable placed on or attached to land by or by the direction of the person who owns both the movable and the land, for its service and improvement becomes an immovable by destination The theory is that the owner of both by uniting the movable with the realty , intends that its destiny be merged with the realty.
