Meaning of Inducement
A form of influence brought upon another by threats or promises. To induce is to lead on, to influence, t prevail on, to move by persuasion or infk ence.In the context of inducing infringement of patent , the term has the connotation c: active steps knowingly taken, in sense o: purposeful, or intentional, as distinguishe: from accidental or inadvertent. See Frotr- berg Inc. v Thornhill, (C. A. Tex.) 315 F.2. 407. In pleadings, inducement is a statemer of matter which is introductory to principa subject of declaration or plea and which is necessary to explain or elucidate it.
Inducement Alternative Definition
In Contracts. The benefit which the obligor is to receive from a contract is the inducement for making it. In Criminal Law. The motive. Confessions 'are sometimes made by criminals under the influence of promises or threats. When these promises or threats are made by persons in authority, the confessions cannot be received in evidence. See "Confession.' In Pleading. The statement of matter which is introductory to the principal subject of the declaration or plea, and which is necessary to explain or elucidate it. See "Colloquium."
