Meaning of Prejudice
Bias; preconceived opinion; favoring of one cause as opposed to another, without justification. In practise , prejudice indicates some deprivation of legal right or interest or an unfavorable change of position of a party without just cause. As a verb, the term means to damage by an action or judgment. U.S. v Lastman, (C.A.2) 258 F.2d 475, cert. den. 358 U.S. 880. The term without prejudice means that the rights or privileges of the parties are to be construed as subsisting and not waived. An offer made without prejudice does not amount to an admission of liability on the part of the offeror. Such an offer cannot be tendered in evidence without the consent of the parties. Etimology of Prejudice

c. 1300, "despite, contempt," from Old French prejudice "prejudice, damage" (13c.), from Medieval Latin prejudicium "injustice," from Latin praeiudicium "prior judgment," from prae- "before" (see pre-) + iudicium "judgment," from iudex (genitive iudicis) "a judge" (see judge (verb)). Meaning "injury, physical harm" is mid-14c., as is legal sense "detriment or damage caused by the violation of a legal right." Meaning "preconceived opinion" (especially but not necessarily unfavorable) is from late 14c. in English.

Definition of Prejudice
The Canada social science dictionary [1] provides the following meaning of Prejudice: To make a judgment about an individual or group of individuals on the basis of their social, physical or cultural characteristics. Such judgments are usually negative, but prejudice can also be exercised to give undue favour and advantage to members of particular groups. Prejudice is often seen as the attitudinal component of discrimination.
