The following is a definition of Quasi, produced by Tetley, in the context of admiralty law: maritime liens - A term used to describe claims for pilotage, general average contributions and dock charges in Canada, which claims, under sects. 2(1) and 22(2)(l), (q),and (s), read with sects. 43(2) and (3), of theFederal Court Act, R.S.C., 1985, c. F-7, follow the ship into whosever hands it passes (like traditional maritime liens (see this maritime law term in this legal dictionary)), but which (unlike maritime liens) rank after rather than before ship mortgages. See Tetley, M.L.C., 2 Ed, 1998 at pp. 94, 452, 457 and 736-737; Tetley, Int'l. M. & A. L., 2003 at p. 436.
