Meaning of Tales
Latin. Such men. At common law , when at the trial of an action or criminal proceeding , a sufficient number of jurors do not appear , either by reason of challenge or other causes, either party may pray a tales, that is, ask the court to make up the deficiency.
Tales Alternative Definition
(Lat. talis, such, like). In practice. A number of jurors added to a deficient panel suflBcient to supply the deficiency. A list of such jurymen as were of the tales, kept in the king's bench ofiice in England.
