Meaning of Prosecution
The proceeding with, or following up of, any matter in hand. The proceeding with any suit or action at law. The institution and carrying on of a suit or proceeding to obtain or enforce some right or the process of trying formal charges against an offender before a legal tribunal. Sigmon v Com., 105 S.E.2d 171, 200 Va. 258.

1560s, "action of pursuing," from Middle French prosecution (late 13c.) and directly from Late Latin prosecutionem (nominative prosecutio) "a following," noun of action from past participle stem of prosequi (see prosecute). Meaning "legal action" is from 1630s.
Meaning of Diversion (from Prosecution) in Spanish
Description/ translation of diversion (from prosecution) into Spanish: suspensión del encausamiento o de la persecución a prueba; diverted charge: suspensión condicional del encausamiento; a diverted person: persona en situación de encausamiento suspendido; pre-trial diversion: renuncia condicional a la acusación (por parte del fiscal); post-trial diversion: suspensión condicional del cumplimiento de la pena (impuesta por el órgano juzgador); divertee: beneficiario de una diversion; to divert a case: renunciar el fiscal condicionalmente a presentar cargos; period of diversion: período durante el cual el encausado debe cumplir las condiciones impuestas en la diversion[1]
